Bridget Claims Her Own

in lieu of finishing today a long post on our blessed Imbolc,
here's a few stories from then
to illustrate
Bridget's Encompassing Presence and Blessing

of the 3 Bridget cloths
I wove into the tree branches the night before,
the coldest night with winds howling,
one was Susan's grandmother's handmade lace handkerchief.
It was to be for me, personally.
The next day,
all the cloths were no longer in the tree
and were scattered in the garden.
But the lace one with the green shamrock and trim
was completely gone.
Bridget said for her, personally.

on the way here,
Elizabeth got down her steps with a full basket,
but one with a weak handle which broke on the last step
opening but not breaking
the bottle of home-brewed mead for Bridget.
She took about 1/5th of the bottle right then.

making non-caffeinated tea for us, I put my thumb
through Bryan's tea bag and figured it would be good sacrifice
and wrapped it up and put it in my pocket for later
and put a new one in his cup.
Somehow that undid itself,
the broken one filled his cup with herbs
which were then offered to Bridget.

So grateful for you dear Bridget,
goddess of strength and song,
of healing and good health and our hearth,
of our everyday and extraordinary,
of our fire and inspiration and compassion
and so much more.
